Show UNION PACIFIC IS BUILDING HOTELS C. B. Petty of Hurrican, in an interview in-terview with a representative of this paper last Wednesday, stated that the Uunion Pacific railway were already al-ready at work on the Hotel for Cedar Breaks. Logs are being cut and the ground cleared for the building, which is to be a log rustic building. Last week Mr. Petty signed up a contract with the railroad people for the rough lumber to be used in the hotel to be built in Zion Park on the sight of the present camp. The contract con-tract calls for a minimum of 200,-000 200,-000 feet to be delivered in the im-medliate im-medliate vicinity of the park and will be hauled three miles to the rim of the canyon and dropped down 3,000 feet by cable to the floor of the valley, val-ley, where the building is to be located. lo-cated. The plans call for a strictly modern mod-ern hotel of 150 guest rooms, to be built of native red sand stone. There electrical tubular chimes are to be installed in the tower of the builds ing, and an out-door pipe organ Is contemplated. Over one-half the rooms will be equipped with baths, hot and cold water and electricity will be in every room. A large fire place round which the guests can gather in the evenings and listen to songs and stories will be an attractive feature. The grounds will be beautified with flowers and! shrubs, lawns and courts About $150,000 will be spent by the Federal government on roads and trails in the park and on one bridge over the Virgin river outside the park. Other hotels are to be built at Bright Angel and at Brice canyon, The plans for these are not so far advanced. |
