Show PUFFER LAKE ROAD OPENING JULY23-24 The whol'; 0f Beaver county and surrounding country is urged to help in a grand celebration to be held at Puffer Lake on July 23-24, in honor hon-or of the successful completion and opening of the road leading up Beu-v Beu-v er canyon to the lake. A committee from lure, composed of L. It. Fournier, Karl S. Carlton, and O. X. Hickman, met last Tuesday Tues-day evening in Heaver with a committee, com-mittee, from the Beaver Commercial Club and formulated a tentative plan for the affair. H. D. Thompson was made chairman chair-man and Geo'. Mitchell, secretary. D. N. Hickman was appointed chairman of a committee to get the Milford band up to the Lake for the occasion. occas-ion. An attempt is to be made to get an outside speaker. Several good ones were mentioned, but the matter was left entirely in the hands of the chairman. There is to be music, both vocal and instrumental. There will be sports for old and young; male and female races, boat . races; foot races; jumping, wrestling; wrest-ling; boxing; and a tug of war. The entire county outside of Min-ersville. Min-ersville. has issued a challenge to the suorts of Minersville for an athletic contest. In doing this, both Milford and Beaver have conceded the super-i( super-i( "ity of the Minersville athletes, and only In1 combining this talent, do they hope to overcome tihe Garden-City Garden-City of Beaver county. This is a good time to' go up to the high altitude and see and enjoy some of the beauties of our own mountain scenery. |
