The Columbia ran aground on an Island off the west coast of Costa Rica en route from San Francisco Fran-cisco to Xew York. The ship was making twelve knots during an unusually un-usually heavy rainstorm when she struck. The passengers were foxtrotting fox-trotting and say that the quick action of the purser,- Mr. Burnett, in ordering order-ing the orchestra to continue playing, probably averted a panic. |
