Show FOURTEEN POUNDS OF SUGAR OUT OF TEN For those who are short of sugar here is a way whereby it can be made to go farther. This simple formula is used to advantage in jelly making by food products concerns and should come handy at the present shortage of sugar: Take 10 lbs. cane sugar. 4 pints water, one-fifth of an ounce of tartaric acid; boil the solution slowly from 30 to 35 minutes in a covered vessel, taking care to discontinue dis-continue before the color of the solution solu-tion darkens when a corn sirup taste develops. One pound of this sirup Is equal in sweetness to one pound of granulated sugar. . |
