In , each state or wheat-growing district there are varieties, according to the department, which produce higher yields than others, even when given the same culture. If growers are not familiar with the high-yielding varieties for their section, they car, obtain information on the sub.'e t from their state experiment station or the U. S. Department of Agriculture. Agricul-ture. Varietal experiments with rye at the same station resulted in one variety producing at the rate of 43 bushels per acre- and another 37.3 bushels. Similar tests with barley resulted in one variety producing at the rate of 70.5 bushels per acre and another 55.2 bushels when grown under the same conditions. A |
