Oakden and daughter Ella, left Thursday of last week to spend a few days with her daughter, Mrs. Mayme Lefton, at Escalante. Miss Christie Dorrity left Saturday Satur-day to finish her business course at the Hennager business college at vi It Lake City. A parly of young people chaperoned chaper-oned by Mrs. Heauprie Nowers, will snrnd a week at Puffer's lake and the mountains ea-st of Beaver fishing A heavy rain and wind storm occurred oc-curred in Beaver Tuesday evening, doing much damage to hay and grain. Mrs. Mary Fotheringham who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. John Nowers, left Tuesday for her home in Lehl. Dr. J. R. Parsons of Salt Lake City is in town this week looking after af-ter his patients. Miss Jennie Burke who has been working at the Hotel Beaver, for the past three months, left Monday for her home in Almo, Nevada. She will spend a couple of days with her sister. Miss Vella Burke, at Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mackerell and children have returned from Leeds. The weather is very warm there and Mrs. . Mackerell and children chil-dren didn't like the excessive heat. Howard Maughan, principal of the Murdock Academy, arrived in Beaver Bea-ver Sunday to take up his duties. Prof. Maughan says he sees a very bright prospect for the school this coming year. Young Orrlce Murdock was surprised sur-prised on the evening of the fifteenth fifteen-th birthday, recently, and the evening even-ing was given over to choice music. Ice cream and cake were served. Miss Dora Thayne. who has been visiting her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Smith, left Thursday of last week for her home In Wellington. Welling-ton. Mr. and Mrs. Lowa Wheeler, who have been visitintr their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rube Parkinson for the past week, returned to their home in There is to be a girl's baseball team organized in Beaver and they will play the girls' team of Milford here, Friday afternoon. The Beaver Bea-ver girls will go to Milford Sunday. Mrs. Enoch Burton left the forepart fore-part of last week for Waterloo, Montana, Mon-tana, to visit her friend, Mrs. Celia Pollock Taggart. While there she will accompany Mrs. Taggart and son on a trip through Yellowstone park. Mrs. Annie Cox received word on Monday evening of the passing away of Maud, daughter of Mrs. Laura Woolfenden at Salt Lake City. Miss Woolfendin made her home in Beaver Bea-ver several years ago and has many friends who are sorry to hear of her death. A number of the Beehive girls went for a hike to the mouth of the Beaver canyon recently. Great fun they had swimming in Ashworth's pond, climbing the mountains and taking pictures. The entertainment enter-tainment of the evening consisted of speeches, readings and songs and during the evening, a beautiful gold cane was presented Mr. Maeser in appreciation of his labors at high councilor. Strickland and family fam-ily will leave Saturday to make their home in Salt Lake City. They have been in Beaver for the past five years and have many friends who regret to see them leave, but wish them sue cess and prosperity in their new home, and hope that they will be able ab-le to run down to Beaver once in a while for a little visit with their old friends and neighbors. E. church chur-ch met at the parsonage August 6, and were delightfully entertained by Mrs. Zook and Mrs. Mc.Call. After scripture reading and prayer by Rev. Zook. a short business meeting meet-ing was held. About sixteen were present. Needle work was the pleasure plea-sure of the afternoon. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Next meeting will be held Friday afternoon after-noon of this week at 2:30 p. m., at the home of Mrs. Karl S. Carlton. All are cordially invited to attend. Mrs. Elizabeth Bettenson of Circ'e ville. who has been visiting her sister. sis-ter. Mrs. John Nowers. this past week, has returned to her home. Mr. B. H. Fowle. state road supervisor, super-visor, is spending a few days in Beaver. Bea-ver. He is stopping at the Beaver Hotel. Mrs. Nellie Dalton and children, who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. David Reese returned to her hoiie in Paragoonah Tuesday. She was so j eompanied by her mother. Mrs. Melvin Edwards will soon cross the Alantlc ocean for a visit of several months with her people iu England. |
