Show RED CROSS WORK AT MIXEUSVILLE The Red Cross Ball given by the Red Cross Committee of Minersville Friday, June 22, in the Wood's Hall was the most successful affair ever held here, due to the able management manage-ment of H. M. Gourley, chairman of the committee, and his assistants, the Mesdames H. M. Gourley, Lynn Kelsey, Edmund Murdock, Frank Griffiths, Edna Thompson and Laura Rollins. The hall was beautifully decorated decor-ated with the national colors. Many United States and Red Cross flags were used and the committee dressed as Red Cross nurses, serving punch from fern covered crocks over counters coun-ters of red and white. The ice cream booth also added much to the beauty of the decorations. The music was donated by Messrs. Reese, Griffiths. Reginald Brain and Alvin Baker. During the course of the evening Reginald Brain rendered render-ed a piano selection entitled "Old Black Joe." Messrs. William Joseph and Frank Griffiths acted as floor managers Many people from Milford, Beaver and the surrounding ranches and farms were in attendance. Prior to this the ladies of the committee com-mittee made a house to house canvass can-vass and were met with cheerful donations do-nations in every home. The receipts from subscriptions and the dance sent to the Red Cross Association by the Minersville committee com-mittee were $230.00. Never before have the people of Minersville responded so willingly to the call of need, and much credit Is due the committee for the systematic systemat-ic way in which the work was carried car-ried out. |
