Show CONSUMER'S STRIKE The New York Times calls the slack buying by the general public, a consumer's strike, and goes on to say that if the strike is to be broken brok-en at all, it must be done by the offering of-fering to the consumer the advantages advan-tages of the reductions made by the wholesaler. Further it says, that if the wage readjustment, and partial unemployment are not to become dangerous, social and political factor, fac-tor, they must be accompanied by an equivolent lowering of the cost of living, not in food and clothing prices pric-es for next spring's trade, but at the retail store today. Calling this a Consumer's Strike, furnishes food for thought, and has not caused us to be idle as most strikes do. but has surely caused us to labor harder mentally and physically physi-cally to cause this reduction of prices, pric-es, which everyone hopes and trusts will benefit all mankind. Our capacity to buy and invest will surely help and relieve the tight ness of the money market, if prices have the sound of wisdom and fairness fair-ness Contributed. |
