Show PEOPLE WANT ECONOMY. There seems to be no law of supply sup-ply and demand governing the lawmaking law-making industry. Whether wanted or not more laws are turned out. Of the eleven new laws and amendments am-endments to the constitution put on the ballot in November, only one got through, fixing terms of county officers, offi-cers, whereby the people get rid of voting for a number of minor county officials every two years, extending their term to four years. This will save the people money and trouble and expense. Extravagances and higher taxes and all kinds of new and expensive experiments and new burdens imposed im-posed on the taxpayers are the invention in-vention of professionals. It would be interesting to know how much It cost the Oregon taxpayers taxpay-ers to have the eleven measures submitted, sub-mitted, printed, counted (out) and how soon they will be forced on the ballot again? Constitutions of Oregon are typical typ-ical of various other western states. |
