Show BINGHAM KIWANIANS BENEFIT COMMUNITY Some weeks ago County Road Commissioner E. L. Burgon and Commissioner Londsay were entertained en-tertained by the Kiwanis Club of Bingham, and at that time an endeavour was made by the Club to point out to the com-inissioners com-inissioners the, necessity of com pleting the hard-surfaced road from Salt Lake City to Bingham. Bing-ham. It was thought the matter mat-ter would not materialize on account ac-count of an insufficiency of funds, but the persistency of the local Kiwanis Club has proven prov-en effectual. Engineers are now at work surveying and as soon as the weather permits immediate immed-iate action will be taken for the construction of a hard surfaced road to the mouth of the canyon, can-yon, a distane of four miles. On Thursday of last week County Sheriff Ben Harries with his Bingham deputies were the guests of the club. Sheriff Harries in a brief talk before the club stated it. was the duty of all officers to see that the law was enforced, and if they were unpopular the people should use their every effort for their repeal. A complaint was made from members of the Club from Copperfield and Highland Boy requesting a resident resi-dent deputy sheriff be stationed at each of these districts as the both deputies now make their homes in the lower part of camp, and should their services be needed it would take at least from 15 to 30 minutes for them to appear on the scene. Sheriff Harries promised these members immediate action would be taken . in the matter and a deputy be assigned to the both districts, but up to date they are still making their homes about three miles from where they should be operating. |
