Whitney Floyd, extension forester from the Utah State Agricultural college, and County Agent Steffins spent last Friday ' on the Milford flat, where they visited farmers to discuss tree planting. While there they made arrangements for a demonstration windbreak to be planted on the farm of L. R. Bowen. A three-row three-row windbreak will be planted on the south and part, of the west and north sides cf the farmstead. Previous Pre-vious demonstration windbreaks have been planted on the William Baker and Ben Lewis farms and are doing well. Individual planting on the Carl Elmer and W. C. Cates farms also are looking good. Thousands of young forest trees are now available for farm planting plant-ing in Utah at nominal prices, Mr. Floyd announces. These trees are available through the cooperation of the United States department of agriculture service and the school of forestry at the college. No farmer in the Milford valley can afford to Ibe without windbreaks wind-breaks with trees costing only $1.00 to $2.50 per hundred, depending depend-ing on variety. |
