Show Celebrate Their Golden Wedding ' . 1 ' V... - - V' V-T , ' '5.. I E . ... . - , - MR. AND MRS. KARL S. CARLTON Carltons Celebrate Golden Wedding Honoring Mr. and Mrs. Karl S. Carlton, veteran Beaver county publishers, on their 50th wedding anniversary, the Beaver 'home ol Iheir son and claugnter-in-iaw, rar. and Mrs. Walter L. Carlton, Tuesday Tues-day became virtually a bower ol flowers and the gathering place for approximately 200 Utah ana California friends. The affair was planned as a simple afternoon ana evening reception but the general invitation extended to friends all over the United States resulted in a deluge of wires and notes oi felicitation besides the flowers and personal calls. A "no presents" pres-ents" notation was printed on the invitations but the suggestion went unheeded in some instances and a number of Ibeautiful gifU were added to the gorgeous dispk of flowers and potted plants. Delicious refreshments w e r served and each guest was given a piece of the huge wedding cake, wrapped in gold and white. Karl S. Carlton and Cora E. Pierce were married March 28, 1885), in Mantua, Ohio. Both are' descendants of Revolutionary soldiers. sol-diers. They have spent more than 46 years of their married life in west-em west-em United States, about equally in Utah and southern California. In 1916 they bought the Milford News and the following year the Beavei Press. In May, 1917, they came to Beaver county to live, dividing their time between the two towns j until about 12 years ago, when , thev sold the Beaver Press to Mr. ! and Mrs. A. C. Saunders. In 193b they 'bought the paper back and two years ago transferred the own--ership to their son Walter. Since then they have devoted their time to sightseeing, traveling and fishing. fish-ing. They recently returned fnom a 15,000-mile trip which took them through 31 states as well as into i Canada and Mexico. Mr. Carlton is a former presi-I presi-I dent of the Utah State Press as- sociation and has served as presi-; presi-; dent .of the Milford and Beaver ! Lions clubs. He is a member oi I the Independent Order of Odd Fel- i lows and Mrs. Carlton is a Refco kah. Both have been active civi I workers in the county. They have two sons and a daughter, Dave Pierce Carlton of Houston, Texas; Fanny Sheldon Carlton of San GermamrPuerto Rico; and Walter Levi Carlton of Beaver; also two grandchildren, Martha Ellen and Norma Mae Carlton of Beaver.
