Show Making Tests For $75,00OStructure E. B. Kennelly, representing the bridge department of the Utah state road commission, has been busy in Miiford the past week, digging test holes and measuring water pressure preliminary to the drawing of plans for the construe- . tion of the $75,000 railroad underpass under-pass at Miiford. The structure at Miiford is one of several proposed by the highway department as a part of the W. P. A. work in Utah, the plans for which were recently sent back to Washington for federal fed-eral approval. Using a crew of local men as assistants, Mr. Kennelly first put down some poles east of the tracks at the present crossing and then shifted operations to a point south of the old shops, where there are only two tracks to provide pro-vide for as against seven at the present crossing. Operations at the second site have been on a much more extensive exten-sive order, a large square manhole having been sunk and a small gasoline pump installed in addition addi-tion to the ordinary borings. Late report has it that a heavy pressure pres-sure of water has developed at the latter site, however, and it is doubtful if it will meet with the approval of the proper authorities. |
