Show I School IRotee Flower Exhibit At the Milford high school fair last Friday, October 11, there were many gorgeous flowers on display, all kinds and colors. There were roses and sweet peas that looked as though they had been gTOwn in a hot house. If it hadn't been for this fair and the j work of Miss Fernley, who had charge of the flower exhibit, the : people of Milford would not have ; known about these beautiful j flowers which were grown in our 1 own town of Milford. Marie Gillies. Overheard Last Friday at the school fair, I overheard some people talking. This is what they said: "Would you ever believe that Milford j alone could have such a marvelous fair as this ? Why, everything is ! just wonderful. It is the very best i fair I have seen in the county of Beaver." Marie Gillies. After nearly every dance names were drawn from the ticket box and the lucky person won either a melon or a mess of fresh vegetables, grown by the farmers of our community. The F. F. The Antique Display at the Fair To me, the antique display was one of the most interesting exhibits exhi-bits at the fair. It was surprising to me to learn, how old some of the articles really were, and the interesting manner in which some of the things were made. One thing that especially impressed me was an egg-beater and bowl made of rushes. Anotherinterest-ing Anotherinterest-ing article was a sword which was supposed to have been brought to America on the Mayflower. Some of the old-fashioned capes, dresses and bonnets were also very interesting. inter-esting. On the whole I think the antique display was most interesting. interest-ing. Daphne Fromm. Early in the morning up to the hill came horses galore, pets of all breeds and kinds, cows, calves, pigs, sheep, chickens; and all kinds of bottled fruits and vegetables which were displayed in the gymnasium. There were prizes given for the best type of each display. The fair was the first to be held in the town, but it won't be the last. Gordon Murdock. o |
