Show i! CHRISTIAN SCIENCE ! ; "Love" is the sulject of the les-i les-i son-sermon in First Church of j Christ, Scientist, in Milford on Sunday, Aug. 4. The Golden Text is: "The Lord hath appeared of old unco me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting; love: therefore there-fore with loving kindness have I drawn thee" (Jeremiah 31:3). Among the Biblical verses in the lesson-sermon is the following: follow-ing: "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are ray disciples, if ye have love one to another" (John 13:34, 33). Included is the following correlative correl-ative passage from the Christian Science textbook "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Scriptur-es" by Mary Baker Eddy: "In Science we are children of God; but whatever is of material sense, or mortal, belongs not to His children, for materiality is the inverted in-verted image of spirituality (p. 572). If selfishness has given place to kindness, we shall regard our neighbor unselfishly, and bless them that cur.-e us, but we shall never meet this great duty simply by asking that it may be done. There is a cross to be taken up before we can enjoy the fruition frui-tion of our hope and faith" (p. 9). |
