Fat heifers and upper grade cows also showed little or no change but lower grade cows that advanced sharply the two previous previ-ous weeks lost 25c to 50c of the recent upturn, with instances cited as much as 75c under the previous week's best levels. Hog prices eased slightly, after a little strength in opening rounds. Best butchers sold late at $15.35, compared with $15.50 in closing days of the previous week. Sows were under more pressure than butcher hogs, prices sagging 25c to 50c to a $13.50 to $M basis. The W F A has announced that the 270-pound weight limit has been waived on good' and choice butchers as far as ceiling prices are concerned. Ceiling prices are now applicable to all good and choice hogs, irrespective of weight. This is not expected to have much iffect at west co::st markets where hogs weighing above 250 pounds arc usually subject to price discounts. dis-counts. tXo change is noticeable in the sheep and lamb situation with prices holding in a steady groove under restricted receipts. |
