Show 48 Years Service ForP.-TLA. Group Forty-eight years of Parent-Teachers Parent-Teachers association. Forty-eight years dedicated to the promotion of ideals and purposes of the Parent-Teacher movement! That is the record of the Parent-Teacher movement. And, although our local unit has . had many set backs since it was organized about 1920, it now is playing a significant role in stimulating efforts in behalf of the children of our community. Some of the presidents of the Milford Mil-ford unit have been A. E. Smith, Mrs. Milton Pool, Mrs. L. G. Clay, Mrs. J. C. Smith, Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. J. C. Murdock, Mrs. LaMar Outzen, Mrs. E. L. Smith and many others who have worked to strengthen and extend this movement. From the beginning of P.-T. A., one of the aims has been to "secure for every child the highest advantage advant-age in physical, mental, social and spirittmal education." Ror .every child! For the halt, the .lame, and the blind, as well as the physically physical-ly whole; the child with a gift and the child with a handicap; -the child whose behavior is all awry and the child with fine stability of character and personality; the child who can learn easily and the child who seems unable to learn at all. Not one of these can be left out, Parent-Teacher associations, by the very terms of their organization, organi-zation, have an obligation to every one of them. What is that obligation? The words quoted speak of "highest advantages ad-vantages in physical education." That means doing everything pos- sible to make and keep children's bodies sound. ! In connection with this aim, the local schools have completed ; plans for the thorough physical examination of every school child j on alternate years. The examina-: examina-: tion for elementary school children ! will be by Dr. Max Schlachter on ! Monday, February 19, at the grade school house from 9:00 a.m. to jl:00 p.m. There will be a small fee of 50c charged for each child, this amount to be paid by the respective re-spective parents. |
