Show Legion Auxiliary Gives Report of Work Done The regular business and social meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary was held at the Community Com-munity center Monday evening, February 15, Mrs. Dora Smithson, president, officiating. Reports were given by the various vari-ous committees. The treasurer's report was given by Carlie Wad-doups, Wad-doups, and the Americanism chairman, chair-man, Ethel Smith, reported on the bond and stamps sales, this being the major project of the organization organi-zation this year. Ethel Nielsen reported the valentine corsage sale, which was a success. Ten cent war stamps sold this way amounted to $50, and a profit was made on the valentines. A motion was made that a defense bond be purchased from the proceeds of this sale. There will be seven different corsages sold during the coming year by the Auxiliary. Mrs. Marie Lewis, chairman of the service flag committee, th memibers of which have been working work-ing diligently on the service flag, surprised the group by displaying the flag, as finished. Lt is o be formally presented to American Iion Post 16, sponsors, and they will decide where the flag is to be display!! to the general public. To date there are 123 boys from Milford in the service. The hospitalization committee I has been asked to do some sewing i for the Veterans hospital, and as ! soon as it is decided what they j want the Milford unit to make, the members will be on hand to I get it done. Each year the Mil-! ford unit has been asked to do this. Some of our veterans have I told us how happy they were to J get pillow cases with the incrip- j tion, "Milford Unit 16" on them. During the period from October 25, 1942 to February 14, 1943, the Auxiliary has sold bonds and stamps amounting to $2185.10. In addition to this, $487.50 in ; bonds and $162 in stamps were j sold at the elementary school, Christmas program, members of ; the organization having been ask-; ed to assist in these sales.
