Show War Fund Drive j Begins Thursday In Milford Area Detailed plans for the 1943 Red1 Cross War Fund drive were made I Thursday evening at a meeting held at the Milford hotel. The meeting was called by 0. C. Koch, chairman of the drive, and was attended by nearly 100 per cent of the campaign committee personnel. J. C. Smith, Milford chapter chairman, gave an interesting report re-port on Red Cross activities throughout the nation and abroad. He stated that Milford 's quota for the drive was $1650 and cited the fact that Milford had always been successful in past drives and ranked third in the state as a result re-sult of the 1941 drive. Interesting Interest-ing reports of the regional meeting meet-ing at Cedar City were given by Mrs. Roy Cottrell, Mrs. Roy White sr. and Mrs. Mary Johnson. While the nation-wide Red Cross advantage of the semi-monthly j War Fund drive has been set for March, there is nothing preventing prevent-ing individual-, chapters from setting set-ting an earlier date and this has been done in Milford so as to take railroad pay day. Accordingly, committee memibers will begin their work in Milford and vicinity next Thursday morning, February 25. For the purpose of making the drive in the most effective manner, man-ner, the area covered by the Milford Mil-ford chapter has been divided into 19 districts, represented by the following committee members: Mrs. Roy Cottrell, Mrs. F. A. Bingham, Mrs. Alfred Horton, Mrs. Thomas Foss, Mrs. Fred McKay, Mc-Kay, Mrs. Don Segerstrom, Mrs. J. R. Murdock, Mrs. G. C. Cuddy, Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen, Mrs. Thomas Gerrard, Mrs: F. G. Stuck, Mrs. James Glenn, Mrs. Sam Cline, Mrs. J. F. Tribole, Mrs. Roy White, Mrs. K. B. Coon, Mrs. Ernest Uren, Mrs. Mary Johnson, Mrs. Kenneth Hol-lis, Hol-lis, Mrs. Kenneth Smith, Mrs. R. C. Hedrick, Mrs. Ross Patterson, Mrs. Willis Whitbeck, Mrs. Stanley Stan-ley Voorhees, Mrs. Karl Hanney, Mrs. James P. Holm, Mrs. Arthur 0.' Williams, Mrs. Carl Elmer, J. R. Murdock, Sam G. Cron and Vern M. Burns. The $125,000,000 War Fund goal for the year 1943 is based on realistic real-istic estimates which a careful survey sur-vey shows are actually needed to meet the heavy wartime obligations obliga-tions and responsibilities of the Red Cross. The sum covers local, national and international wartime needs of the organization for one year. More than 65 percent of the total amount required by the national na-tional organization has been budgeted for direct national services ser-vices to the armed forces. - Of the total goal, $45,000,000 will be required iby Red Cross chapters to finance their work in behalf of families of servicemen. The remainder, or $80,000,000, will go to the national organization, which, however, requires one hundred hun-dred million dollars to finance its national and international program. pro-gram. The differences will be met by a balance of $20,000,000 from the first War Fund, which will be applied to the 1943 budget. I |
