Show iFarm Tree Planting i Orders Being Taken i Order blanks for farm-forest ' tree planting stocks are being dis. j tributed to all past cooperators and those who have sent in inquiry in-quiry blanks, announces J. Whit-ney Whit-ney Floyd, extension forester at the Utah State Agricultural col-.: col-.: lege. j Mr. Floyd reports that 180,000 : trees of nine different species will be made available for the spring planting season in Utah. The nine species of trees in-! in-! elude: black walnut, honey locust, I Russian olive, black locust, Siber-! Siber-! ian elm, green ash, eastern red cedar, ponderosa pine and golden ! willow. j Farmers may obtain order i blanks for these trees by contacting contact-ing one of the following: county I agricultural agent, local forest I supervision soil conservation ser-i ser-i vice district supervisor, or the ! U. S. A. C. extension forester. ! Hundreds of windbreaks and farm woodlots have been planted throughout the state under this program since its inauguration in 1930, states Mr. Floyd. He adds ; that many of these are now furnishing furn-ishing fence post material, or fuel wood which is vitally needed in the war effort. j Mr. Floyd also points out that I in the treeless areas of the state l much farm improvement has re- suited from windpreak planlting around the homestead. |
