While there her son Allen, who is in the marine 'corps, was able to spend two week-end's with her and other i relatives. I Mrs. E. L. Smith was hostess Thursday night of last week to memibers cf her bridg-e club. Those present were Mrs. J. R. Murdock jr., Mrs. Sam Cline, Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. Myron Lewis, Mrs. J. H. Weston, Mrs. David S. Williams Wil-liams and Mrs. J. C. Smith. The prizes for bridge were received by Mrs. E. L. Smith, Mrs. Murdock and Mrs. J. C. Smith. Willard1 Esplin, popular Milford ihigih school teacher, is the proud daddy of a fine new baby boy. born Friday night of last week at the Milford hospital. The young man weighed nine pounds, 14 ounces at birth and both mother and 'babe are doing well. They have one other child, a little girl, who is daddy's companion while mama is in the hospital. Mrs. W. G. White informs The News of the death June 2G in Long Beach, California, of Mrs. Myrtle B. Frizzell. The Frizzells will be remembered as' having lived in Milford some 16 years ago. Mrs. Frizzell was a member of the G. I. A. of Milford for 23 years, transferring to this division from Cripple Creek, Colorado. Survivors Sur-vivors of Mrs. Frizzell are a son, William, and a daughter, Alice L. Hern of Long Beach. v Mrs. Roy Firmage and three children returned home Friday 0f last week from a three weeks visit in southern California. While there they visited at the Santa Monica home of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Stoker, former residents of Milford. Mrs. J. 0. McWhorter and daughter Avis of Pocatello, Idaho, wer e guests at the M. H. Pool rome ovet- the weejkl-end. They came to visit Mrs. .McWhonter's dauighterinlaw, Ruth Pool McWhorter, Mc-Whorter, and get acquainted with her little granddaugrter, Julie Ann. C. Tom Martin is nursing a bad injury to his hand which he suffered suf-fered Sunday while "shooting trouble" on a large radio set which had failed to function. As he went to lift the chassis from his knee, a short circuit occurred and it was not until after his hand had been badly burned that he was a;ble to loosen his hold on the set. Mrs. Gene Pitchforth entertained entertain-ed members of her bridge club Friday of last week, with the prizes being received by Mrs. J. S. Rickerson for high points and Mils. Pitchforth for high honoa-s, while Mrs. K. Hollis received re-ceived both the consolation and traveling prizes. Others present were Mrs. William Morris, Mrs. Dick Jones, Mrs. James Smith-son and Mrs. Glen Barnes. v |
