Show CHRISTIANSCIENCE "God" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Christian Science churches on Sunday, July 4, and included are these Biblical citations: "All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity. To wh0m then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him? (Isaiah 40: 17, 18). The following correlative passages pas-sages from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy also form a part of this Lesson-Sermon: "That God is a corporeal being, nobody can truly affirm. The Bible represents rep-resents Him as saying: "Thou cans't not see My face; for there shall no man see Me and live.' Not materially but spiritually we know Him as divine Mind, as Life, Truth, and Love. We shall obey and adore in proportion as we apprehend ap-prehend the divine nature and love Him understandingly, warring no more over the corporeality, but rejoicing in the affluence of our God." (p. 140). v |
