Show Milford Welcomes Heavy Snowfall While Milford was not favored with a white cover for Christmas, the new year got started right, with the best snow storm in four or five years, resulting in more precipitation for the week than the aggregate of the previous three months. Beginning Friday with a five or six inch fall of wet snow, amounting amount-ing to .40 of an inch of moisture, there followed .01 of an inch December De-cember 28, .26 on December 29, and .01 on the 30th, topped with another fall of about 5 "2 inches of drier snow early in the morning of Tuesday, December 31. While it has been cold enough to keep the snowy blanket spread, there have been no extremes of temperature, 7 degrees above zero being the lowest recorded on the official thermometer cared for by Charles E. Beard, cooperative observer, ob-server, who is authority for these figures. Thawing weather the afternoons after-noons of the last few days put the mercury into a temperamental mood this (Thursday) morning, however, and a minimum of 2 degrees de-grees below zero was recorded. |
