Show An eight and a half pound baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Baerg Friday, January 31. His name is John Truman. The mother and son will remain at the residence of Dr. J. J. Weir until Tuesday. H. T. Hanks returned Tuesday from a ten days visit with his family in Los Angeles. Mrs. C. O. Sportsman left Sunday Sun-day for Cedar City, where she underwent an operation at the hospital. Report is to the effect that she is getting along nicely. Miss Ruth Pool entertained her bridge club at the M. H. Pool home las Friday night with Miss lieth Coleman receiving the high 'score prize and Miss Margaret Mar-garet Cochrane the consolation prize. Those present were the i Misses Beth Coleman, Margaret ! Cochrane, Lois Williams, Mary Hanks, Sarah Pool, -Norma White and Mildred Killam. The Milford Fire department : lads were called to make a run to j the Charles Clements home in the southwest part of town Sunday morning. The fire was in the i roof of the house and didn't a- mount to much but Mrs. Clements j is understood to have suffered a compound fracture of her arm j when she fell from the roof be-I be-I fore the firemen arrived. The Primrose club met at the homo of Mrs. Clements last Friday. Fri-day. After the choosing of their quilt, a delicious lunch was served to Mrs. Ruby Davidson, Mrs. Kate Singleton, Mrs. Frances Hollis, Mrs. Maggie Crawford, Mrs. La Vern Davis, Mrs. Ruby Hollis, Mrs. .Verda Moore, Mrs. Garneta j Hollis and Mrs. Delia Carter. The , next meeting will be held at the I home of Mrs. Crawford. I - Mr. and Mrs. Gene Pitchforth were host and hostess at a dinner Tuesday evening to Mr. and Mrs. Art Connell, Mr. and Mrs Frank Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rickerson. The dinner was in commoration of their wedding anniversary. 500 was played during the evening with Mrs. Connell winning high score prize for the ladies and Mr. Stewart winning high score prize for the men. A few friends and neighbors of Mrs. B. E. Hutchins surprised her Wednesday night, it being her birthday. Bridge was played during dur-ing the evening with Mrs. Wilson Moore receiving high honor 'prize and Mrs. Ray Malstrom receiving high points prize. Those present were Mesdames Ed Peterson, Wilson Moore, J. C. Jeffers, G. C. Cuddy, C. P. Decker, Ray Malstrom Mal-strom and Miss Hannorah Hutchins. Hutch-ins. Mr. and Mrs. Karl S. Carlton, owners of the Beaver Press, writing writ-ing for the current issue of that paper, tell of traveling for miles along the new Los Angeles aqueduct aque-duct which takes Parker dam water out of the Colorado river to the metropolitan water district around Los Angeles. The Carltons were on their way from California o Texas, later planning to continue con-tinue on to Florida, returning home several months hence. The wheels of industry in the VNews office have been turned to double duty again this week, made necessary by the continued illness with rheumatic fever of Walter L. Carlton, editor of the Beaver Press. However, when we left him Thursday night, after making up and running off the type we had set in Milford, he was feeling much better and will likely be able this coming- week to resume his place in his shop, into which he has hardly stepped in two ' weeks time. |
