Show Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hughes were Salt Lake 'business visitors over the week-end. Mrs. Theo Christensen of Elsi-nore Elsi-nore left Sunday for her home, after visiting several days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Moore. J. C. Smith, cashier of the Mil-ford Mil-ford State bank, returned home Tuesday from Salt Lake, where he had been a business visitor for several days. Mrs. Bill Frazier of Delemar, Nevada, is visiting a few weeks in Milford with relatives and friends. Miss Betty, small daughter of I Mr. and Mrs. Barnett Fothering-, Fothering-, ham, is reported doing nicely fol-! fol-! lowing a successful appendectomy performed Friday of last week at the Milford hospital. Mrs. William E. (Bud) Hutchins and baby daughter, Barbara Jean, are here from Los Angeles for an indefinite visit with Mrs. Hutchins' mother, Mrs. Lulu Peterson, and other relatives and friends. Mrs. E. J. Romick brought her young son Eddy to Milford Tuesday Tues-day for medical attention. Mrs. Rcmick's mother, Mrs. John Kil-lam Kil-lam returend to Caliente with her for a few days visit. William Davis, wellknown veteran vet-eran miner of this section, is back from a stay of several months in Long Beach, where he went on account ac-count of his health. He is looking and feeling much better and may return to California. One of the largest business deals in Beaver county in several months took place this week in Beaver when John R. Murdock negotiated ne-gotiated the purchase of the Barton Bar-ton drug store, which is also the state liquor agency for that city. Monday night is the annual Milford Mil-ford Volunteer Fire department big annual Valentine ball and, from the plans being made by the fire laddies for the event .and those of others who are intending to be present, k. will be one gTand affair. af-fair. Walden Blackburn and Bill Nichols, two Milford boys whe joined the army air service some time ago, are reported to have left Hamilton Field, California, for Hawaii. They expected to arrive in Hawaii February 8 and will there continue on in the air service. ser-vice. Mrs. Russell Ferguson entertained enter-tained her sewing club last Saturday Satur-day afternoon. Those present were Mrs. LaVar Voorhees, Mrs. Merrill Mer-rill Edwards, Mrs. Warren Atkin, Mrs. Roy White jr., Mrs. Pete Stuck and Mrs. Frank White. Delicious De-licious refreshments were served by the hostess. Mrs. J. C. Smith entertained the Monday night bridge club at her home with Mrs. George Rogers receiving re-ceiving the club prize, Mrs. D. S. Williams house prize and Mrs. William Wil-liam Cochrane consolation. Others present were Mrs. Gene Kirk, Mrs. J. M. Williams, Mrs. J. M. Hughes and Mrs. M. H. Pool. A family dinner and general good time was had Sunday evening eve-ning when Mr. and Mrs. Frank Osborn, Mr. and Mrs. Dern Os-born, Os-born, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Mills. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grimshav Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cline ana Doctor and Mrs. Leon Cline 01 Beaver happily surprised Mrs. Sam Cline at the Sam Cline home. The occasion was Mrs. Cline's birthday. Mrs. Roy Firmage, assisted by Mrs. Owen Stoker, entertained their "500" club members and guests at a stork shower Wednesday Wednes-day night at the home of Mrs. Firmage. Fir-mage. The shower was given for Mrs. Thomas James, who received many beautiful articles. Five hundred was played during the evening with club high score prize going to Mrs. Robert Tomsik and club consolation prize to Mrs. Owen Holt while Mrs. Karl Levi won the guests high score prize and Mrs. Steve Stoker the guests consolation prize. The Business and Professional Women' club met Thursday evening eve-ning at their regular time at the Milford hotel. The topic "Our Town" was given by Mrs. George Jefferson and the members took part in discussing many things pertaining to Milford. Jef fers entertained the Big Four Bridge club Wednes- j day evening. The traveling prizes were won by Mrs. Lloyd Lee and Mrs. B. E. Hutchins, the latter also al-so winning the house prize. Others present were Mrs. Ray Malstrom, Mrs. G. C. Cuddy, Mrs. Robert Price, Mrs. Joe Hanlon and Mrs. George Moore. A deal whereby Kay's Milford Cafe passes from the ownership of Kay Suyefusa to J. J. Corwin was completed this week and Kay will be leaving soon for Japan after some 11 years residence in this country. More than five years ol this time he has spent in Milford. where he has had the respect of all who knew him. Mrs. Myron Lewis was hostess to her bridge club Tuesday evening. eve-ning. Those present were Mes-dames Mes-dames E. L. Smith, Gene Kirk, J. A. Weston, D. S. Williams, J. R. Murdcck jr., George Rogers and George Moore. Mrs. Weston won the high points prize, Mrs. Williams Wil-liams high lienors prize and Mrs. Kirk consolation prize. The G. I. A. club met at the home of Mrs. William Dawscn last Saturday night. Bridge was played play-ed during the evening after which dainty refreshmnts were served. Those present were Mesdames J. C. Jeffers, C. F. Decker, G. C. Cuddy, Frank KuchenmeUter, J. P. Holm, John Low, John Killam, L. B. Waddingham and J. D. Johnston. John-ston. A number of wemen "friends of Mrs. George Moore gathered at her home Saturday afternoon to help her celebrate her birthday. Bridge was played with Mr3. Myron My-ron Lewis winning high score prize and Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen consolation consola-tion prize. Thobe present were Mesdames Antone Johnson, J. C.
