Show Present Charter To Local Unit of 15. IMV. Croup The Milford Business and Professional Pro-fessional Wi men's club officially took its place with si nihil' o.".;. nidations ni-dations in ;he lar'-r cities of the slate Saturday night at the formal char.er night hamiuct, held at '.he Unicn Pacific dining room. Gertrude Gert-rude Dewey, president of this latent service organization for Milford, presided and the affair was ma.'.e an outstanding c.ne by the presence of Mrs. Almeda P. Brown of Logan, state president; Miss Alice Mannning of Salt Lake, state parliamentarian; Miss Clara Woodhouse of St. George, Pixie district chairman: Miss LuYera McArthur of St. George, district membership chairman and Miss Marie Stevens, state health chairman. chair-man. Miss Manning, as the vilest sr.t-akt r of the evening, discussed the objectives and accomplishments accomplish-ments of the Business and Pro-fes.-i. nal Women's organization and the responsibilities of those affiliating. She also gave a brief history of the movement, which had its inception before the World war. The clubs were started to promote the interests of women generally and had proved to be a real adventure in feminine friendship. The charter was presented by Miss Woodhouse and accepted in behalf of the local club by Mrs. Dewey. The club prayer was read by Miss McArthur and brief remarks re-marks were given by ethers. Mrs. Brown gave a very interesting talk on the state organization, stating that Utah was to be hostess host-ess to the westsrn regknal conference con-ference to be held at Grand canyon can-yon beginning June 20. Entertainment features included includ-ed a number of readings by little Beverly Heslington and group singing by those present, with Mrs. Harcld Cline as accompanist. Local women present at the banquet were Mrs. Sam Clint. Miss Mabel Horsley, Mrs. Dolores Meacham, Mrs Harold Cline, Miss Xcrma White, Miss Selma Johnson, John-son, Miss Ida Jolley, Miss Irene Rainey, Mrs. Gertrude Dewey, Mrs. Eva Evans, Mrs. George Jef-ftrson, Jef-ftrson, Miss Gladys Coleman, Miss Mary Banks and Mrs. David S. Williams. After the banquet a number of the women went to the home of Mrs. Sam Cline where cards and social chat were enjoyed. |
