Show West Valleys Are Visited ByStorms Another heavy storm west of Milford is recorded today (Thursday) (Thurs-day) in tho report of .68 of an inch of rainfall at the Desert Range Experiment station, together togeth-er with the flooding of the istate highway in Pine valley and the deepening by some six feet of the Warm Point wash west of the station. The information comes to The News by telephone from Ben Stahmann, assistant director at the station, who states that that section sec-tion has not been visited by a storm anywhere near these proportions pro-portions in years. The Warm Point wash, he says, looked like a small Mississippi river some distance dis-tance below the highway crossing, where the stream was 300 or more feet wide but still several feet deep. The banks of the wash fairly trembled as huge boulders were pushed along by the silt-laden silt-laden torrents. Several miles of the road system sys-tem built within the station area during the past two years, were j riddled and some of the fencing torn dow-n by the rush of the water off the 'side hills. The "hardpan" east of the sta-j sta-j tion, was completely covered with : water two feet deep, according to j Mr. Stahmann. |
