Show Heber City Man Will Head Lions Jess L. Hiatt, Heber City druggist, drug-gist, was named district governor of Utah Lions clubs, and O. A. Kelly Kel-ly of Boise was elected to the same position for Idaho Saturday at the closing session of the annual district 28 convention of Lions clubs, held at Vernal. Pocatello, ' Idaho was named as the 1940 con-, vention city. E. R. Moody and E.I L. Smith attended all sessions of the convention as official dele-gates dele-gates of the Milford Lions clulb I and both are loud in their praises j of the hospitality of the Vernal people and of the fine spirit prevailing pre-vailing at the convention, vowing their intention of attending next year's convention at Pocatello. Mrs. Moody accompanied her husband hus-band and Mr. Smith and participated partici-pated in the enjoyable round of entertainment en-tertainment provided for the lady visitors. Mr. Hiatt, a veteran Lion and zone 3 chairman, won the post as Utah governor over Alf Freeman of Brigham City by a considerable margin, while Mr. Kelly defeated Dr. Floyd Johnson of Rigby by a comfortable margin for the Idaho governorship. Walter F. Dexter of Sacramento, California, president of Lions International, In-ternational, was the principal speaker at the various convention sessions, including the key members' mem-bers' breakfast, which Lion Smith attended as one of Milford's two master key members. Mr. Dexter stressed the part Lions play in the development of good fellowship and peace throughout through-out the world and urged club members mem-bers to be good Lions and live up to the ideals of the organization. Lady Lions are also a very important im-portant part of the organization, ho S3iti, urging that the clubs make efforts to have the ladies participate more often in club activities. |
