Show THESE "LETTER" DAYS Americans Were amazed the other evening- to hear the experts on radio's "Information Please" muff a question about one of the important letter-days ahead. They didn't know, evidently, that V-E Day means Victory-in-Europe Day. Or, if they did know, they were like the little boy in school who explained to the teacher that he knew what the capital of a certain country was, but that he couldn't put it words. Well, this morning we ran across a letter day even we had not noticed before. At the Republican national headquarters head-quarters in New York, there is a calendar which keeps record Of the days remaining before E-Day. You've guessed it as quickly as we did election day! This military-istyle abbreviation seems to change any future day with an almost electrifying significance. And it heightens anticipation in a way reminiscent of the smell of steak cooking (remember?). So why not C-Day (cleaning day), W-Day (wash day), S-Day (school day) but make up your own list of the days you like least and see how much more glamorous they become when translated into the terminology termi-nology of history-making events.
