Show Delegates Named To National Meet George W. Snyder, prominent Salt Lake mining man, was elected elect-ed Republican national committeeman committee-man and Mrs. Jesse F. Cannon was reelected national committeewo-man committeewo-man Saturday at an enthusiastic convention of the party held at Ogden. Former Senator George Jefferson, Republican county chairman, chair-man, and Hal Smurthwaite, both of Milford, attended the convention as two of the three delegates apportioned appor-tioned to Milford. Four delegates at large, J. Reuben Reu-ben Clark jr., Allan S. Tingey. Mrs. Dana C. Blayney and R. N. Mabey, all of Salt Lake, were named to attend the national convention con-vention to be held at Cleveland. Ohio, together with Leroy B. Young of Ogden and A. M. Mars-den Mars-den of Parowan, representing the first congressional district; and E. M. Rowe of Provo and George Holt of Davis county, representing the second district. IVoposals to instruct the delegation dele-gation for Senator W. E. Borah of Idaho as a candidate for president, failed on the floor of the convention conven-tion after supporters had failed to submit the proposal to the resolutions resolu-tions committee. Arthur M. Hyde, secretary of agriculture under President Herbert Her-bert Hoover, was the principal speaker of the convention and delivered de-livered a blistering attack on the New Deal. |
