Show Superintendent of CCC Camp Is Given Promotion ! L. C. Koch, superintendent of j the Division of Grazing CCC camp : at Milford since it was first estab-' lished over three years ago, left Wednesday for Salt Lake City, where he takes office as regional engineer for all camps within the state, the change coming to him as a well merited promotion follow-the follow-the splendid record he and the men under him have made. George. Payne, foreman at the local camp j for almost as long a period as Mr. j Koch was superintendent, will act' in the latter capacity for the time being. Under Mr. Koch's regime, the Milford camp holds the safety record rec-ord for all camps in existence, the camps having numbered 2400 as a maximum at one time. In more than three years' time there has not been a single serious work accident ac-cident or injury, and with more than three-quarters of a million i miles of automotive equipment operations, op-erations, there has been but one truck accident involving enrollees and there was no serious injury in thi9 case. It is not alone in the matter of safety that the local camp ranks high, for it is also at the top of the list in work accomplished, it is understood, though we do not have figures. However, it is common knowledge, from repeated mention in The News, that a huge program of range betterment projects has been carried to completion, while an equally pretentious program of beneficial projects is underway. The amount, of traveling necessary to plan and oversee this vast program pro-gram may be judged by the fact that moi-e tban 121,000 miles have been put on the speedometer of the D-G car used by Superintendent Superinten-dent Koch since August of 1935 all in the performance of government govern-ment work. Milford friends of Mr. Koch, while regretting his departure, feel that he has well earned his promotion, and wish him all kinds of continuing good luck. j |
