Show NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC The Milford Volunteer Fire Department De-partment is sponsoring no ticket or candidate in the forthcoming muncicipal election. Hutchins. Mrs. Webb's daughter, Mrst Howard Phelps, who has also ibeen a Milford visitor, left Monday for her home In Garfield. Gar-field. Mrs. Nelson Calvert returned this Thursday morning from four weeks eastern trip which included in-cluded visits to her childhood home in Saline county, Missouri and at other places in that state and in Denver. J. S. Rickerson, town fire inspector, inspec-tor, speaking for the members of the Milford Volunteer Fire department; depart-ment; expresses .gratification at the response of local people to fire prevention week, even though no special plans were made locally for observance of the occasion. A. L. Fotheringham and E. L. Hunt of Compton, California, arrived ar-rived in Milford Monday. Mr. Fotheringham will spend several days here visiting with his mother, Mrs. Matilda Fotheringham, and other relatives, while Mr. Hunt will go on to Denver, Colorado, to return In a few days. Mrs. William Cochrane entertained enter-tained the Monday night bridge club this week. Those present were Mesdames Gene Kirk, J. C. Smith, J. M. Hughes, J. M. Williams, Wil-liams, George Rogers, D. S. Williams Wil-liams and Frank Kuchenmeister. Mrs. Rogers won the club prize, Mrs. D. S. Williams the house prize and Mrs. Kuchenmeister consolation con-solation prize. The Saturday Afternoon club met at the home of Mrs. Douglas Ryan last Saturday with Mrs. J. R. Murdock jr. receiving first high score prize, Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen second high score prize and Mrs. Ryan consolation prize. Others present were Mesdames George Fernley, C. W. Cates, William Cochrane, M. H. Pool and J. M. Williams. Mrs. Gertrude Dewey was hostess host-ess to her club Friday night with bridge being played. Those present pre-sent were Mrs. Thorald White, Mrs. J. C. Root, Mrs. Lloyd Kohler. Miss Gladys Coleman, Mrs. Leah Richards, Mrs. Alice Carlson, Mr. Fred McKay and Mrs. Don More-head. More-head. Points prize was awarded Mrs. White, honors prize Miss Coleman, guest prize Mrs. McKay and consolation priae Mrs. Carlson. The Firemen Ladies met at the home of Mrs. Ezra Lyman Monday evening. Bridge was played with Mrs. Faye Bradfield winning the club prize and Mrs. Glen Barnes the consolation prize. Among those present were Mesdames Earl Glea-son, Glea-son, Joe Hanlon, Barney Fotheringham, Fother-ingham, K. B. Coon, William Ash-worth, Ash-worth, M. M. Vincent, 0. R. Smith, George Moore, Wilson Moore, Kenneth Hollis, Faye Bradfield, R. Banks, Walter Johnson, Glen Barnes and Nathan Smith. The Lady Trainmen organization organiza-tion gave a party last Friday night for Mrs. A. L. Webb and Mrs. H. E. Phelps, who are visiting visit-ing here. The evening was spent playing bridge with Mrs. Blvern Palmer winning high points prize, Mrs. Georgia Stonehocker high honors prize and Mrs. Theressa Pitchforth consolation prize. Others present were Mrs. Macel Horton, Mrs. Prudenco Jensen, Mn. Agues Kennert, Mrs. Florence Barrves, Mrs. Ann Lee, Mrs. Myrtle Mills and Mrg. Ella Edward. |
