Radio celibrities and vaudeville and staee favorites throng the distinguished dis-tinguished cast and offer an amazing amaz-ing variety of talent to the jaded palates of film-goers. Three of the four stars, Joe Penner, Harriet Milliard and Parkyakarkus, have already made their bows to motion picture audiences; the fourth, Milton Mil-ton Berle, makes his speaking screvn dob ut in the film, along with scores of other players. Five glittering production numbers and eight catchy songs are deftly blended into the picture, together with a wealth of comedy and an unusually interesting plot. Tuesday and Wednesday On the screen at the Firmage theatre Tuesday and Wednesday comes to life that unforgettable ch-iraeter, the Old Soak, immortalization immortal-ization by Pon Marquis in his original novel. Wallace Beery now finds his greatest role in this characterization. Roery 'portrays the character cf a small-town philosopher phi-losopher who retires from active business in order to locate the local speakeasies. The complications complica-tions of the plot revolve around a family nestegg that is stolen. Of course the Old Soak is blamed. The manner in which he restores the money and reunites the clan makes a story that provides many laughs for the audience. The cast include Una Merkel, Eric Linden, Judith Barrett ami Betty Furness. Chapter 1 of "Radio Patrol" and a comedy also will be shown. |
