Show Moscow Property Is About Ready To Start Work Moscow Silver Minos company, ecu rolling property in the Star and North Star Mining district, about eight miles southwest of Milford, is engaged in preliminary work preparatory to conducting minimr operation-. At the present time, the company is rehabilitating I buildings, repairing and eonstruct-! eonstruct-! ing nails and the power line is being put in condition for immediate immedi-ate use. Company officials report that a few more days should see the power line completed after which underground operations will be started. The company controls 30 patented patent-ed claims aggregating some 372 'acres. Operations have been suspended sus-pended since HXM, le-ees operating the property between 1931-34. ! Prior to that time, dating back to , l'J'io, the company carried on continuous con-tinuous activity. During that time, about 200 railroad cars of ore were ' produced with net smelter returns to the company cf $20-1,313.12. The comnany reports that its two compartment com-partment main working shaft bottomed bot-tomed at a depth of U"00 feet is completely fitted with all neces-, neces-, sary equipment and machinery. I The Moscow Silver Mines com-! com-! pany, which is a consolidation of I the Moscow Mining and Milling ' company and the Red Warrior ! Mining company, is located in a ,' district with strong surface min-i min-i eralization and general geological i features favorable to the belief that large persistent deposits exist i at depth. Mining at the Moscow ; began when outcrops of rich ore .were opened up on the surface, the Burning Moscow, the nucleus of ; the present Moscow Silver Mines I having been located in August, 1S70, by H. Higgins, Isaac Watson land S. F. Shaw. j The property was later acquired by Mart Cullen, wellknown in Utah fining history, having been accredited ac-credited with participation in the ; purchase of the old Horn Silver for $30,000 and three years later selling the bonanza to a Philadelphia Philadel-phia company for 5.000,000. The early history of the property prop-erty discloses that these rich surface sur-face outcrops were, followed downward, down-ward, the mineralization being found to occur in two main shoots the Silver and the Back veins. These were continuously-productive continuously-productive from the surface down jtg the 1200 foot level. In prospect-ling prospect-ling the faulted area below, new ; stopes the Gold, the Jupiter, the ; Wagram, the Fault and others 1 were exploited between the 1400 i and the 1100 foot levels. In 1930 a new strike on the 900 foot level was made which, according to the report at that time, indicated the persistence of these shoots in the upper levels. As a result, the j management at that time contend-j contend-j ed that three possible mines were in the making: the main Moscow j ore bodies dipped below the shaft j on the 1400 foot level; the down-i down-i ward extension of the Red Warrior War-rior ore foodies to the north in the same horizons so richly mineralized mineraliz-ed in the Moscow; and the upward continuation of the Gold Stope above the 950 lsvel. j |
