Show TOWN BOARD HAS 1 special' MEETING The newly-sworn in Milford town board met in special session last Wednesday evening, with a full membership present and President Gronning presiding, i After approving bills fof current and December expenses, the board read, approved and adopted a set of regulations governing operation 1 0f the municipal airport. This was : a hold-over matter from the busi-' busi-' ness of the previous board, that 'tbody having been unable to act rn the matter pending approval of :he regulations by the state aeronautics aero-nautics board. "Cash on hand" as the new board takes over management of the municipal affairs, is $33,049.38. The board authorized construction construc-tion by city employes of a room for use as an office in hangar No. 1. Discussion of a lease of airport facilities was quite lengthy, with President Gronning insisting upon clarity of all points. Mr. Hillman was granted permission to operate a flying service at the airpirt, with terms of lease to be decided upon at a later meeting. A class beer license (permission (permis-sion to sell draught or bottle beer) was granted Denning. the property ' owners involved should pay all expenses, incuding architects' fees for preliminary examination and recommendation. O. C. Koch expressed the opinion that it should be a community project, since improvement of the main street also would Improve the valuation of all businesses and residences. Eddie Anderson suggested pictures pic-tures of each block on Main street ! be submitted to an architect for study and recommendation of improvements, im-provements, and the architect's fir,Hino-s ho discussed at a later meeting. From a renter's viewpoint, Lawrence Law-rence Eldridge, local jeweler, stated stat-ed that he would like to have a new attractive front for his jewelry store, so he could install furniture and fixtures to match, improving the appearance of his store and thereby attracting more interested customers. (E. C. Jorgensen, Milford manager man-ager for the Tri-State Lumber company, stated that building material ma-terial "probably" would be avail able for such work by spring, and that his company had tentative plans for a block-long brick and glass front for ttleir contemplated new building on the undeveloped block opposite the telephone office. Joe Murdock called for unity, leadership and cooperation in pushing push-ing to completion this project, stating that he believed it would be one of the most beneficial moves Milford could make. I Other speakers included Bert Wynasght, Ben Hillman, W. O. j Evans and Bob Tomsik. , George Jefferson and Mr. Jorgen-j r-.rn were appointed as a committee j to contact architects with pictures of Milford's Main street "as is" and j secure recommendations and estimates esti-mates from them. |
