Show Prizes To Be Given For Stories ByUtahns Utahns will have an opportunity opportun-ity to "break into print" and buy War bonds with the prize money, according to an announcement of a writers' contest being sponsored by the Utah Department of Publi.i city and Industrial Development, in cooperation with the League o Utah Writers. Commissioner H. J. Plumhof, in; making the announcement, stated : that $100 in cash will be awarded, to the writers-of the three best stories having some specific theme i about Utah. First prize will be I $50, second prize $30, and third! prize $20. The articles, which may be of any length, will be judged by a board of experienced editors, and teachers soon after the closing clos-ing date, June 30, 1945. "There is a great fund of excellent ex-cellent story material in Utah, j which should find a permanent 1 place on the printed page," said Mr. Plumhof. "In addition to the I good Utah stories which we hope , to obtain in this contest, it is-quite is-quite possible that we may un-! cover some truly fine writers," he j said.
