Show Milford BoysTake 4th Place at Meet Milford athletes came through with a nice performance in the Region Six track and field meet at St. George Friday of last week to take fourth place in the meet and rank Beaver high school by GVs J points, thus . fulfilling the threat made by Milford in the dual meet held a few weeks ago, in which . Beaver managed to nose Milford ' out by a bare four points. One existing Region Six mark went into the discard at the re- ; gional meet and consistently good performances were made in all other events. Jack Woodbury of Hurricane, with a toss of 179 feet, completely erased the former regional re-gional record of 165 feet in the javelin throw and, beat by several sever-al yards all other javelin throws of the day in various parts of the state. Others scored as follows: Beaver, 21 ; Cedar City, IS; Dixie, I&Y2; Kanab, 11; Hinckley, 10; Valley ( Orderville ) , 2; Parowan, 1. lan Gillies of Milford took first place in both the high and low hurdles, Jim Hickman took third in the mile run; Frank Triibole took fifth in the high hurdles; Warren Thompson, third in the shotput; Williams of Milford, fourth in the 440-yard run; Hickman, fourth in the 880; and the Milford team took third place in the medley relay. Comparison of the marks made Jn regional meets held in various towns Friday show Region Six and Region Three each to have copped seven high marks, while Region 5 (eastern Utah) iboys are credited with two of the top marks of the day and Region Four (Sevier' and Sanpete countries) wilfch onte top mark. Included in the listings of Region Six were Gillies' marks in the hurdle events; and others' marks in the 100- and 220-yard dashes, the 880-yard run, the broadjump and the javelin throw, which bested the Utah county mark by 19 feet and the other regional marks by even greater margins.
