Show 'Minute' Women Are Appointed A meeting of salvage drive "minute women" was held Friday evening of last week at the home of Mrs. J, T. Whisler, chairman of the women's division of the local !S,a''v)age committee. , Fifteen women were present at the meeting meet-ing and literature of various kinds was given the workers for distribution. Their work is highly high-ly important in the war effort and it is hoped that they will be accorded ac-corded a warm welcome at the homes of housewives when they call. Mrs. Whistler informed the group that the tin can drive is now on in full force and gave instructions in-structions on how cans are to be prepared for salvage purposes. Another great need, she emphasized, empha-sized, is for fats and every housewife house-wife can and should play her part in this phase of the war effort, thereby helping the boys in the service. Wendel, elementary school principal, has cooperated in organizing organ-izing the grade school sturents in canvassing all the homes for more old jewelry. Three shipments have been made from state headquarters headquar-ters in Salt Lake City for use in the Pacific, one of the shipments amounting to a ton. Thousands of lives may be saved through the success of this one drive alone. I Every effort made in this dripe for old jewelry, beads, and other : trinkets will be amply rewarded in the shortening of the war. |
