Show War Fund Drive I Soon To Begin In the campaign of the United War Fund of Utah, which is an affiliate of the National War fund, and which will get under way November 9. this state's .quota will be $410,000. That amount is exclusive of the funds I which will be raised by com-I com-I munity and war chests for strictly strict-ly local needs. That $410,000 j mer.ns, above all, that every part of the state every county, every town and city in ewry county J will be called upon to appeal to ! the hearts of all citizens, and through their hearts to their pocketbooks. Of all the need for funds not raised through sales of United (States securities and through taxes for the direct purchase of material and for the colossal movements of our armed forces, : the need for the United War Fund (National War Fund) is para-j para-j mount. This is because the money thus raised goes into the very heart and sinews of the will to do and to conquer that all-compelling force behind the men and weapons and ships that girdle the globe in the Allied cause. What is the United War Fund of Utah ? What is its only goal ? It is' to swell by the amount of $410,000 the millions that will be raised nationally for use of the seventeen great service and relief re-lief agencies devoted exclusively to the welfare of servicemen and j cJvilians of the allied nations. They are: j The U. S. O... (United Service I Organizations), maintaining so-j so-j cial and recreational centers for j the armed forces; United Sea1-men's Sea1-men's Service, War Prisoners Aid, Russian "Relief, United China Relief, Re-lief, British War Ttelief society, 'Greek War Relief society, Polish War Relief, United Yugoslav Relief Re-lief fund, French Relief fund, Belgian Bel-gian War Relief society, United Czechoslovak Relief, Queen Wil-(Continued Wil-(Continued on last page) V War Fund Drive (Continued from first page) helmdna fund (for Holland relief), Norwegian Relief, Friends of Luxenbourg, Refugee Relief Trustees, Trus-tees, U. S. Committee for the Care of European Children. Each of those needs is vital; each has the approval of all the governments and national and international agencies with which they are associated. Here in our own state, there is an abundance of deeply felt sympathy for each of these causes. In our state, too before the organization of the National War Fund and the United Unit-ed War Fund of Utah, which was j called into being last July 29th, each of these great waT agencies j found fairly generous support in their separate drives. J But, it meant seventeen sepa-rate sepa-rate drives seventeen scattered, appeals to the people of Utah. ! And that system is not an efficient effi-cient one. It dispersed the efforts' of the socially-conscious and sym-, pathetic workers in all the counties. coun-ties. The United War Fund of Utan, on the other hand, will channel into the proper grooves all the funds received in the forthcoming forth-coming appeal. These funds, through a systematic national arrangement, ar-rangement, will find their way directly to the spot and into the causes where they will have their heartening effect on the war effort ef-fort in. all of the allied lands. There will be no waste. The dol-k.Ts dol-k.Ts and cents of every donor will be sent right to the front in this battle of service and welfare. |
