Williams returned :horne Tuesday from Payson and ' Fureka, where she had spent the week-end visiting relatives and friends. Mrs. Wilson Myore of Salt Lake I City, a former resdent of Milford, ! spent last Thursday, Friday and ! Saturday here, visfting relatives j and friends. L i ' j Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Pool returned return-ed home Saturday from a ,two week's vacation trip into California, Califor-nia, enjoying a tour of central California parks. Mr. and Mrs. George Rodgers motored to Payson to enjoy Onion and Homecoming days. While 1 there .they visited with their son 1 Roy and family, who had just re- cently moved into, their beautiful i new home. W. C. Cates, former prominent resident of " Milford, was visiting local relatives and friends Tuesday. Tues-day. He has ibeen making his home at the Anderson ranch, this side of St. George, but expects to make a change soon, he informs The News. IMilford's new curb and gutter construction got a.: severe test last Sunday afternoon when the most severe downpour of rain in months visited the town. - -Oddly enough, the storm didn't extend far out in any direction, South. Milford getting only a light shower. Mrs. J. J. Lentf.er of Strang, Nebraska, has been visiting at the home of her brother, Otto Steen-bock. Steen-bock. Mrs. Lentfer is Mr. Steen-bock's Steen-bock's youngest, isister and they haven't seen . each . other ftr 20 years. Mrs.-' Steenbock accompanied accom-panied Mrs. Lentfer as far as Salt Lake City last- Thursday on her return home.- . Beb Murdock left Tuesday for a vacation trip to Los Angeles and San Francisco-, California. Wihile in San Francisco he will visit with his sisters, Dorothy and Betty, and also visit the Worlds fair. Bob will return in about two weeks to-Logan where he will continue his work at the U. S. A. C. for the coming year. Mr. and Mrs. V. Waddoups and daughters, Carlie, Lola and Angie, visited in Utah county and enjoy- ed a trip over the Alpine loop road 1 betweeen Provo and American I-'-t!; the first of the week. Mr. ai.d Mrs. Carl Shugren of Salt Lake City spent Satuday in Mili'ord on their return from a ' tour of the southern Utah parks. Carl was a former Union Pacific yard- clerk at Milford but it has been five years since he left here : to live in Salt Lake, where he is employed in the postoffice. Mrs. Shugren is the former Wanda Shields of Milford, their marriage having taken place a year and a half ago. Mrs. Viva Gray returned home Saturday from Salt Lake City, after spending the past few weeks at a conference in that city. Mrs. Gray wishes to announce that the W P A adult education clothing class will start in Milford Thursday, Thurs-day, September 12, and will be held in the north room of the old .library building. All women over Hi years of age are invited to attend. at-tend. ! Word reaches local riends of Howard Wilson, son of J. E. Wilson, Wil-son, that he has received an appointment ap-pointment under the Thomason act and is now attending military school at Fort Benning, Georgia. Howard will be remembered as having taken R, O. T.IC. in high school and the University of Utahi i and also completed four years of jC. M. T. C. work, for which he received re-ceived his commision as second j lieutenant in the U. S. army reserve. re-serve. Karl S. Carlton, who, with Mrs. Carlton, left Milford to spend the winter in Florida, in a card to The j News, tells of a coincidence j which occurred in Gunnison, Colorado. Colo-rado. They had just pulled into a tourist camp at that place when ! Rozetta Koch of Milford accosted i them. She was on her way to Colorado Springs and had engaged I the cabin next to them. Needless to say, she was invited to dinner and to. spend the evening with them. The joint annual picnic of the Masons from Milford, Richfield and Cedar City was held last Sunday Sun-day at the upper Telluride station in Beaver canyon with an attendance attend-ance of 87. This year's picnic was sponsored by the Cedar City Masons, Mas-ons, with Worshipful Master Al Cline in charge. The day was ideal, with only a light sprinkle of rain and a good time was enjoyed by all. Softball and racing topped the fun, according to report. E. L.
