Show FERA GETS OFF TO GOOD START I With 48 men put to work in Mil-! ford, 80 in Beaver and a proportion-j ate number in Minersville, the federal fed-eral emergency relief administration program got underway in Beaver county this week. Differing . little from C. W. A. activities, except that the actual needs of participants are j supposed to be checked more closely j and that 40 cents an hour is being,1 paid for unskilled labor instead of ! the 50 cents paid under the C. W.j A. and recommended also for the i F. E. R. A. further work . on many J worthy projects in town and county j are made, possible. Under the newj plan all able bodied men under 65 years are expected to work out the actual monthly needs of himself and his dependents, the amount being pro-rated by the week, but not to exceed ex-ceed 24 hours a week being permitted. permit-ted. Among the local projects approved by the county and state committees and on which work began this week, and the $300 for re-modeling the fire house, formerly the L. D. S. meeting house, and a miscellaneous town program pro-gram that includes $200 for sidewalk repairs, $200 for street grading, and $200 for street paving repairs. The Moscow county road project has also been approved in the amount of $726; another $200 is to be spent on the airport road, and $200 more is to be expended on a road connecting the airport direct with the airways radio station. Work on several of these projects has begun simultaneously and noticeable progress has been, made, especially on the Moscow road, which has needly badly the attention at-tention now being given to it. A naturally good road except for the; area in the swale also used by the Frisco branch railroad, this particular particu-lar section has long been at the mercy of every spring freshet and summer flood, keeping it continually on a condition that has made it extremely ex-tremely rough. o |
