Show FARM NEWS NOTES BY LEW MAR PRICE County Agent Extension Program and Exhibit Held In Minersville On Tuesday, August 2, four members mem-bers of the extension staff of the Utah State Agricultural college held at Minersville (their annual exhibit and program on Thrift Practices On the Farm and In the Home. W. W. Owens, assistant director of the extension service, showed that early cutting of first and second crops is the most effective method of control. In a talk by" Professor Hogenson, emphasis was laid on the value'of fall and early spring culti-j vation in the control of grasshoppers. grasshop-pers. These, of course, were just two of the many subjects on which these two speakers dwelt, giving information informa-tion that, if put into practice, will help materially in the control of weeds, insects and other pests. The ladies, Mrs.-Barrows and Miss ; ' ".ren, gave demonstrations and ex planations on renovating, remodelling, remodel-ling, etc., of clothing; and food preservation pres-ervation practices 'that, if adopted in the homes of our country, will greatly great-ly improve the dietary as well as save many dollars in family expenditures for necessities. The demonstrations given by boys and girls of Minersville on the making mak-ing of ice cream and making fly-traps were very practical and are said to have already been adopted by several families. |
