McCarthy, is the newly appointed manager of the Schramm-Johnso- n Drug Co. here and recently arrived from Twin Falls, Idaho. Mr. McCarthy was formerly a resident of Bingham for two years, coming here in 1913 when he took over the management of the old com-mercial club then one of the most flourishing organizations of its kind in the West, and was situate over the Bourgard Meat Market. Mr. McCarthy later se-- cured a position with the Wood-rin-g Drug Co. and in 1915 left Bingham and took charge of a similar position with the Schramm-Johnso- n Drug Co. of Salt Lake City. Mr. Carty in 1920 was moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where he succesf ully man-aged the company's branch store until he was transferred here. Mr. McCarthy is a cap-able and efficient druggist and has a wide circles of friends in the social and fraternal world and his many old-tim- e acquain-tances in camp are giving him the glad hand of welcome. Copperfield Brevities Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Cotter and family, Mrs. M. Klopenstine and Miss Stella Klopenstine left Tuesday on a motor trip to Zion's canyon and Yellowstone. Park. Dr. and Mrs. Rigby of Fair-vie- w were the guests of their niece Miss Gwen Christenson and Mrs. E. Poulson last week end. Mr. and Mrs. 0. C Jone3 have as their guests Mr. and Mrs. W. Houseman and son Billy of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Miss Esther Knudsen who is training at the L. D. S. hospital spent last week end here the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Knud-sen. Miss Wealthea Rogers return-ed to Salt Lake Sunday after a two weeks vacation with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rog-ers. Mr. and Mrs. John Ford, Mrs. Joe Buckner and Miss Opal Ford spent Tuesday at Lagoon. Mr. and Mrs. Adams and Mrs. C. Coylar were Salt Lake visit-ors Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Powell of Tooele were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. Rogers Sunday. Miss Eva Poulson returned to her home in Mount Pleasant Monday after having spent three weeks visiting relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Rose of Missoula, Montana are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Miles McDonald. Mrs. George Pope Jr. has as her guest her "sister, Mrs. E. A six round bout between Wallace Haslone of Bingham and Roy Tylor of Pocatello in the middle weight class will prove of interest. Shorty Peterson of Bingham and Charles Valdes of Old Mex-ico will tangle in a six round bout in the light weight class. GRAND LODGE OF-FICERS VISIT BINGHAM ODDFELLOWS Grand Lodge officers of the State Oddfellows were guests at a Banquet given in their hon-or by local lodge No . 10 on Thursday night. W. S. Marks, Grand Master, Tooele; W. N. Gundry, Grand Secretary, Salt Lake and Eph Clawson, Grand Patriarch, Salt Lake attended. Each of the officials spoke in glowing terms of the excellent condition" of the order- - through-out the State. Grand Master Marks presented Past Grand F. E. Straup with a 25 year jewel. Including the Grand Master Jno Nye, Leroy Ham-ilton,,. Batterson, F. W. Far-ley W.'M Farley and M. Scan-Io-n ame over from Tooele and represented Lodge No. 47. Ex-cellent speeches were made by Dr. F. An investigation will be made as to the legality of the sale of the hall of No. 21 High-land Lodge, I. 0. 0. F. in the immediate future, by special request of the present Grand Lodge officials. CHIPS AND SHAVINGS AROUND BINGHAM At a meeting of the local or-der of the American Legion, Post No. 30 held in the Masonic hall on Tuesday evening, Jack Kennedy resigned as Sergeant-at-arm- s and Carl Crookston was appointed in his stead. . Sam Feraco was appointed as an ad-ditional delegate to the Price Convention. The Bingham Stage line will run stages to this convention which will take place at Price on August 3, 4, and 5. Charges for the round trip fare are $5.00. For the benefit of fthe local post a Carnival and Dance will be given at the High school gym on Thursday, July the 28, the pro-ceeds will be used to send a dele-gation to the Price convention as possible. Mike Stamic, 29 years of age, an Austrian and Pedro Elleriga a Spaniard sustained abrasions and lacerations at the Highland Boy mine on Wed-nesday caused by a premature explosion. The both men were removed to the Bingham hos-pital and on account of the con-dition of Stamic's eyes it was thought advisable to remove him to the County hbspi.tal on Thursday afternoon. Both teams won places in the State Tourna-ment, and while they both fail-ed to attain the position of state champions, they won the admir-ation and unstinted applause of the ball fans, by their fine clean playing and their high type of sportmanship." Tietjen, Cashier of the Bingham State Bank is to be congratulated on the excellent sho'wing he has made since tak-ing charge of the Bingham State Bank some fifteen mon-ths ago. Mr. Tietjen was form-erly connected with the Nation-al Bank of the Republic of Salt Lake City. On Monday last Mr. Tietjen announced a special dividend of five per cent, which is the third dividertd that has been paid out to its stockhold-ers since the bank has been un-der his able supervision. NEW LODGE ORGANIZED t - f Bingham Council No. 3693, Security Benefit Association, was organized on Monday night at Society hall. Te officers and drill team of Utah Council of Salt Lake conferring the ini-tiation and installation cere-monies. ,A large number of visitors from Salt Lake and Ogden councils were present. The following officers were elected for the new lodge: Pres-ident, W. L. Stepp; vice-preside- John J. Cramer; 2nd vice-preside- nt, Mrs. Florence Con-nar- y; prelate, Mrs. Ella Stepp; secretary, Mrs. Sylvia M. Foote, financier, Mrs. Ida Gust; guard Melvin C. Swain; sentinel, Em-me- tt McLane. Following the meeting Capt. Al Lyman and drill team gave an exhibition fancy drill. The Bingham members served ice cream and cake to their visi-tors. Fifty members from Salt Lake and fifteen from Ogden were present, as well as visit-ing members from Long Beach, California, and Lima, Ohio.
