Show BAKER IS COMING AS MUSICTEACHER Registration of high school students stu-dents and selection of courses of study is being proceeded with this week under the direction of Principal Paul E. Beecher and everything is in readiness to get down to real school work next Monday norning. The beginning be-ginning of school in Beaver county is later than in most counties, due to the fact that it is not necessary to provide for beet harvesting or other long vacations in this county, but it is exerted that a full eight and one-half one-half months school term will be pos-. sible, depite the drop of nearly .$800,-000 .$800,-000 in assessed valuation. There will be one change from the list of teachers published last week. Lorus Hand, music instructor in the Milford school for several terms, is remaining in New York for further study and will not be here this year. His place will be taken by Alvin Baker, a former music instructor in the local schools who has been principal prin-cipal and music .Lirector in the Cir-cleville Cir-cleville high school the last year or two. Mr. Baker is originally from Minersville and taught in Milford six or seven years ago, at which time he had commendable success, notably in band work, an activity that will do more than any other one thing to make the Milford school outstanding. Miss Yema Walker, who will head the home economics and art departments depart-ments this year, is a Layton girl who has been teaching the past four years in the Richfield high schooL She comes to Milford highly recommended recommend-ed for good work in her departments. Outoftown youngsters will have one outstanding thing to look forward for-ward to this year and that is the fact that four brand-new buses of the latest lat-est approved style, power, comfort and safety are being put into service by the various bus line contractors with the beginning of school. o |
