Show o Local Red Cross Takes Action to Secure Wheat for Needy At a meeting of the executive committee com-mittee of the Milford Red Cross chapter held at the Atkin Hotel Saturday Sat-urday evening it was decided to make application for 40,000 pounds of flour of the grain stabilizing corporation which has been turned over to the Red Cross for distribution through the organization. It was estimated by the local chapter chap-ter that there are about one hundred families in Milford and adjoining communities that were in actual need of this help, and that the amount estimated es-timated would give each family a ninety days' supply of flour. A request re-quest has heen sent in and it is expected ex-pected that the flour will arrive in the near future Data is being secured for the amount of wheat needed for feeding stock for the farmers who failed to raise sufficient feed and are unable to buy it, and another requisition will be made for the grain as soon as the information is obtained. Other projects were discussed at the meeting pertaining to the work of the Red Cross, and a resolution was passed making Mrs. Annie J. Atkin, now of California, an honorary honor-ary member of the Milford Chapter in recognition of her many years of faithful service to this chapter. r, |
