It is a notable, but unhappy fact that accident outside out-side the control of the railroads have increased daring these same years. Grade crossing accidents, which or within the jurisdiction of the motoring public, have: steadily risen, in spite of gigantic expenditures for crossing protection. The public has, apparently, turned a deaf ear to the old plea of "Stop, look and listen." The safety work of the railroads has been evjwdly as important as their work in cutting costs and raising standards of service. It would seem that the least the Ipublic can do is to cooperate in preventing accident which are solely within the control of the poblio, |
