GEORGE At a special meeting meet-ing of the city council Thursday the City Treasurer was ordered to pay all salaries of the city one half in cash and one half by a deferred payment pay-ment warrant, carrying four per cent interest and to be paid when the city has the money available. Continued shortage of money caused caus-ed by stringent financial conditions has made it necessary to take this step in meeting the expenses of the city. How long the employees will have to hold these warrants will be determined only by the trend of the times and the return of greater prosperity. pros-perity. o ' |
