Show Schools of the County Will Complete Term Loyalty of Teachers Will Enable High School Pupils to Receive Credits Through the loyalty of the teaching teach-ing staff, the schools of Beaver County, Coun-ty, which were ordered closed last Friday by the Board of Education on account of shortage of funds, reopened reopen-ed Monday morning and will complete com-plete the present term. Upon learning that the board was unable to continue the schools for the remaining two weeks, which would enable the high school pupils to secure se-cure their credits and the graduating classes to secure their certificates, the Milford Parent-Teachers' association assoc-iation held a meeting and an offer l was made by the teachers to continue their work for two weeks without pay, other than what could be raised by public subscription to reimburse them for their efforts. Committees were appointed and it is hoped that a substantial sum may be raised toward to-ward paying them their salaries. In Beaver, the teaching force came to the rescue, and offered to donate a week's services and with additional hours so that the students could secure se-cure their credits. Minersville high school also fell in line and the high school at that place reopened Monday. Mon-day. In Beaver and Milford the teachers, also made the same liberal donation of their time and the gTades are being be-ing continued along with the high schools. Too much credit cannot be given to these teachers for the splendid spirit of cooperation and loyalty to their classes which they displayed in the face of the fact that they have not received any cash payment on their salaries for several weeks. The sacrifice sac-rifice they have made to enable the students to complete their course and receive their credits is one that should be deeply appreciated by every students and patron .of thej school district. n |
