Show Town Authorities and Civic Clubs Organize to Make Milford One of The Cleanest Towns in the State Lead by members of the American Legion Auxiliary a meeting- was held at the Floral Shop Friday afternoon for the purpose pur-pose of sponsoring a spring clean-up in Milford and to start a movement for "Better Homes Improvement." Representatives of the Legion, Lions Club, Town Board and church organizations were present to outline a campaign to make Milford a spotless town. All residents and property ownersi were requested to clean up their premises and alleys and have all cans, rubbish and refuse placed in containers in the alley by Wednesday, April 6, at which time the town will provide trucks for hauling same to the city dump yard. Those who haul their own rubbish away are warned to take it to the town dump grounds west of the powder house west of town, and not to dump promisculous-ly promisculous-ly along the highway. There is a state law prohibiting dumping of trash along the highways and a dump grounds has been provided by the town for this purpose. Signs are being be-ing erected at the grounds so there will be no excuse for scattering of rubbish elsewhere. Recently the task of making- a survey sur-vey of the community was given to the Boy Scouts. The scoutmaster shall appreciate any courtesy the people may extend to the boys who ate in the performance of a duty. The boys are asked by the State Board of health to secure the information. Our boys are anxious to be of service and do not act as detectives or sneaks. They stand for a clean community. com-munity. Cooperation will be appreciated. apprec-iated. Milford is well known as a town of well-kept homes, but there are many spots that great improvement can be made. Through the efforts of these various organizations it is hoped hop-ed that it will be made even more attractive at-tractive and sanitary during the coming summer season. |
