Show WORTHLESS ADVERTISING With the coming warm weather and tourist travel comes also the advertising ad-vertising "specialists" and salesmen high-powered and otherwise, who live high without doing any work, and the small town merchants pay the bill, without getting value received re-ceived for the money thus thrown away. The systems and methods used by these fly-by-nighters are many and varied. Some sell space on maps which in many instances do not even list our town or the principal roads in this section, others have program and "booster" schemes. But the result re-sult is always the same for the merchant mer-chant a waste of money, which it spent through legitimate channels would bring results in the form of increased sales. Why should the merchants of a town pay for the programs of a traveling trav-eling show, and in addition leave a profit for the show? These outfits make money and should pay as they go without outside help. Business men from all over the state are being summoned into Salt Lake as defendants in suits growing out of contracts for picture show advertising. ad-vertising. St. George is not exempt. About a year ago merchants thru-out thru-out the state were signed up on an advertising film service to be run in the local show house, and to be paid for in installments, for which notes were given. The outfit sold the notes and then went broke, and the purchaser, as an innocent party, is seeking to recover from the signers. The original company com-pany did not fulfill the terms of the contract, the advertising was never shown, but in many instances the purchaser of the notes is recovering on the paper.
